Bill Gates je rekao 'da nismo bili spremni' za koronavirus i kritizirao je vlasti u svijetu jer nisu napravile dovoljno da bi se spremile za globalnu pandemiju.
Suosnivač Microsofta je kritizirao svjetske vođe jer nisu na vrijeme dovoljno uložili u testiranje i opremu, pogotovo u trenutku kad se virus prvi put pojavio u Kini prošlog prosinca.
U intervjuu za BBC Gates je rekao ' da će vrlo mali broj zemalja dobiti ocjenu pet' za način kako su reagirale na prijetnju koju predstavlja zaraza koja je zahvatila svijet prije samo tri mjeseca, prenosi Jutarnji list.
Globalno je barem 1,8 milijuna ljudi zaraženo, 112.000 je umrlo i 415.000 se oporavilo od virusa, kažu sa Sveučilišta Johns Hopkins.
Te službene brojke podcjenjuju stvarne činjenice o zarazi zbog nedovoljnog testiranja i neujednačenog prebrojavanja mrtvih, a neke vlade žele sakriti koliko se zaraza proširila u njihovoj zemlji.
Gates, koji je zajedno sa svojom suprugom Melindom radio na pronalasku cjepiva širom svijeta, je danas iz Seattlea kritizirao vlade u svijetu jer se nisu pripremile za pandemiju simulirajući moguće scenarije i testirajući svoju opremu.
- Zbog ovakve nepripremljenosti nalazimo se na nepoznatom teritoriju, kazao je Gates.
Vodeći fundaciju Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on je donirao više od 35 milijardi dolara za razne ciljeve i projekte, između ostalog istraživanje cjepiva u nadi da bi mogao zaustaviti potencijalne pandemije uključujući koronavirus i ebolu.
Bill i Melinda Gates su dugo govorili o strahovima od pandemije i upozoravali svijet da nije pripremljen za odgovor na pandemiju.
Veliki broj vlada u svijetu, uključujući Borisa Johnsona i Donalda Trumpa su bili kritizirani jer nisu nabavili dovoljno opreme za osobnu zaštitu medicinskog osoblja, dovoljno testova za radnike na prvoj crti i respiratore za bolesnike.
Milijarder filantropist je kazao za BBC:
- Nekad sam govorio kako pandemije imaju najveći potencijal za povlačenje svijeta u veliku krizu...Sigurno ćemo gledati unazad i željeti da smo investirali više kako bismo brzo imali svu dijagnostiku, lijekove i cjepiva...Onda je došao period u kojem se virus pojavio, ali kakvi su testovi u tom trenutku pripremljeni?
Gates, koji je druga najbogatija osoba na svijetu, je uočio nedostatak investiranja koji se nalazi iza nedovoljnog testiranja.
Dodao je:
- Investicije su mogle osigurati da dijagnostika bude odmah dostupna, lijekovi i cjepiva u dvostruko kraćem roku, ali većina tih investicija nije izvedena. Sad se mučimo i treba nam više vremena da sve posložimo na pravo mjesto iako znanstvenici odrađuju herojski posao.
- Za razliku od priprema za rat gdje napravimo simulaciju problema i uvjerimo se da smo dobri u tome, za ovaj rizik kojeg sam ja procijenio većim od rizika rata bilo je vrlo malo pripreme, kazao je.
- Ipak vjerujem da ćemo biti spremni za sljedeću pandemiju uz korištenje novih znanstvenih spoznaja, kazao je Gates.
Gates je o pandemiji još rekao: - Neke zemlje su s ovim krenule prije drugih. Zbilja su provjerile ima li širenja u zajednici, brzo su povećale kapacitete.
- Trebali bismo biti spremni za dijagnostiku unutar jednog mjeseca, terapeutiku bi trebali imati unutar četiri mjeseca, a cjepivo ćemo imati u manje od godine dana ako se oslonimo na prave tvornice i pravu znanost.
Dodao je kako će cjepivo biti potrebno dati svim ljudima, što znači 7,7 milijardi.
- Cjepivo je najznačajnija stvar koja je ikad svijetu bila potrebna, kazao je.
Rekao je i da se slaže s doktorom Tonyem Faucijem da će cjepivo biti dostupno za 18 mjeseci, piše Daily Mail.

Bill Gates je rekao 'da nismo bili spremni' za koronavirus i kritizirao je vlasti u svijetu jer nisu napravile dovoljno da bi se spremile za globalnu pandemiju.
Suosnivač Microsofta je kritizirao svjetske vođe jer nisu na vrijeme dovoljno uložili u testiranje i opremu, pogotovo u trenutku kad se virus prvi put pojavio u Kini prošlog prosinca.
U intervjuu za BBC Gates je rekao ' da će vrlo mali broj zemalja dobiti ocjenu pet' za način kako su reagirale na prijetnju koju predstavlja zaraza koja je zahvatila svijet prije samo tri mjeseca, prenosi Jutarnji list.
Globalno je barem 1,8 milijuna ljudi zaraženo, 112.000 je umrlo i 415.000 se oporavilo od virusa, kažu sa Sveučilišta Johns Hopkins.
Te službene brojke podcjenjuju stvarne činjenice o zarazi zbog nedovoljnog testiranja i neujednačenog prebrojavanja mrtvih, a neke vlade žele sakriti koliko se zaraza proširila u njihovoj zemlji.
Gates, koji je zajedno sa svojom suprugom Melindom radio na pronalasku cjepiva širom svijeta, je danas iz Seattlea kritizirao vlade u svijetu jer se nisu pripremile za pandemiju simulirajući moguće scenarije i testirajući svoju opremu.
- Zbog ovakve nepripremljenosti nalazimo se na nepoznatom teritoriju, kazao je Gates.
Vodeći fundaciju Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on je donirao više od 35 milijardi dolara za razne ciljeve i projekte, između ostalog istraživanje cjepiva u nadi da bi mogao zaustaviti potencijalne pandemije uključujući koronavirus i ebolu.
Bill i Melinda Gates su dugo govorili o strahovima od pandemije i upozoravali svijet da nije pripremljen za odgovor na pandemiju.
Veliki broj vlada u svijetu, uključujući Borisa Johnsona i Donalda Trumpa su bili kritizirani jer nisu nabavili dovoljno opreme za osobnu zaštitu medicinskog osoblja, dovoljno testova za radnike na prvoj crti i respiratore za bolesnike.
Milijarder filantropist je kazao za BBC:
- Nekad sam govorio kako pandemije imaju najveći potencijal za povlačenje svijeta u veliku krizu...Sigurno ćemo gledati unazad i željeti da smo investirali više kako bismo brzo imali svu dijagnostiku, lijekove i cjepiva...Onda je došao period u kojem se virus pojavio, ali kakvi su testovi u tom trenutku pripremljeni?
Gates, koji je druga najbogatija osoba na svijetu, je uočio nedostatak investiranja koji se nalazi iza nedovoljnog testiranja.
Dodao je:
- Investicije su mogle osigurati da dijagnostika bude odmah dostupna, lijekovi i cjepiva u dvostruko kraćem roku, ali većina tih investicija nije izvedena. Sad se mučimo i treba nam više vremena da sve posložimo na pravo mjesto iako znanstvenici odrađuju herojski posao.
- Za razliku od priprema za rat gdje napravimo simulaciju problema i uvjerimo se da smo dobri u tome, za ovaj rizik kojeg sam ja procijenio većim od rizika rata bilo je vrlo malo pripreme, kazao je.
- Ipak vjerujem da ćemo biti spremni za sljedeću pandemiju uz korištenje novih znanstvenih spoznaja, kazao je Gates.
Gates je o pandemiji još rekao: - Neke zemlje su s ovim krenule prije drugih. Zbilja su provjerile ima li širenja u zajednici, brzo su povećale kapacitete.
- Trebali bismo biti spremni za dijagnostiku unutar jednog mjeseca, terapeutiku bi trebali imati unutar četiri mjeseca, a cjepivo ćemo imati u manje od godine dana ako se oslonimo na prave tvornice i pravu znanost.
Dodao je kako će cjepivo biti potrebno dati svim ljudima, što znači 7,7 milijardi.
- Cjepivo je najznačajnija stvar koja je ikad svijetu bila potrebna, kazao je.
Rekao je i da se slaže s doktorom Tonyem Faucijem da će cjepivo biti dostupno za 18 mjeseci, piše Daily Mail.
