Pomorske operacije u pohodu na Dardanele trajale su tijekom Prvog svjetskog rata od 17. veljače 1915. do 9. siječnja 1916. Britanska i francuska mornarica su dalekometnim topovima s brodova najprije bombardirale turske vanjske utvrde koje su štitile ulaz u tjesnac Dardaneli.

Zapovjednici snaga Antante su, međutim, uvidjeli da topovska paljba s udaljenosti od 10-ak kilometara ne nanosi veliku štetu turskim utvrdama. Stoga su odlučili očistiti minska polja uz obalu da bi brodovi prišli bliže.

Saveznici su se na kraju odlučili desantom osvojiti Galipoljski poluotok i Carigrad (danas Istanbul), te tako ponovno otvoriti rutu za opskrbu Rusije. Međutim, desant snaga Antante nije uspio i to je jedina velika bitka Prvog svjetskog rata u kojoj je Osmansko Carstvo pobijedilo. Galipoljska bitka je postala jedna od najkrvavijih u tom ratu, s 355.000 žrtava na objema stranama.

Otvaranje podvodnog parka

Galipoljski povijesni podvodni park (Historical Underwater Park) kod sela Seddulbahira blizu Canakkalea, na južnoj azijskoj strani Dardanela, tursko je Ministarstvo kulture i turizma odlučilo otvoriti za sve ronioce od 2. listopada 2021. godine.

U njemu leži najmanje 14 olupina brodova stradalih 1915., tijekom pohoda na poluotok, a sve donedavno se do njh moglo roniti samo uz posjedovanje posebnih dozvola.

Neki se ratni brodovi iz Prvog svjetskog rata nalaze na dubini od samo 7,6 metara, dok su drugi raspršeni na većim dubinama, od 18 do 30 m, s time da britanski HMS Triumph leži na 70 m.

Povijesni podvodni muzej trebao je biti dostupan turistima roniocima još ovog ljeta, ali se njegovo otvaranje javnosti oduljilo zbog pandemije. Neki smatraju kako je odluka turske vlade potencijalno i opasna budući da se u tom akvatoriju nalazi još neeksplodiranih podvodnih mina i torpeda.

Kao putovanje u vremeplovu

No, predstavnik turskog Ministarstva kulture i turizma Yusuf Kartal je za New York Times kazao da nema velike opasnosti budući da su eksplozivne naprave stare i većini njih treba ozbiljan trzaj kako bi se aktivirale.

Prvi čovjek muzeja Canakkale Historical Site Ismail Kasdemir kazao je kako ronjenje do olupina izgleda kao putovanje u vremeplovu u svijet star 106 godina. Osim toga, brojni su ronioci zainteresirani vidjeti izbliza stare brodove, tvrdi on.

U podvodnome muzeju koji će, prema turskim očekivanjima, postati meka ronilaca iz cijelog svijeta, među ostalima, nalaze se ostaci britanskih brodova HMS Majestic, Irresistible i Ocean, francuskog Bouveta i nekoliko turskih minopolagača.

UZALUDNA ŽRTVA


Usput rečeno, tursku vojsku je predvodio Kemal Ataturk, kasniji utemeljitelj turske republike i njezin prvi predsjednik, koji je svoj vojni ugled stekao upravo na bojnom polju kod Galipolja. Snage Antante su dobrim dijelom činile trupe Britanskog Carstva izvan Engleske (Irska, Australija i Novi Zeland), pa Galipolje u Australiji i Novom Zelandu danas predstavlja simbol velikog, nepotrebnog i uzaludnog stradavanja.

Pomorske operacije u pohodu na Dardanele trajale su tijekom Prvog svjetskog rata od 17. veljače 1915. do 9. siječnja 1916. Britanska i francuska mornarica su dalekometnim topovima s brodova najprije bombardirale turske vanjske utvrde koje su štitile ulaz u tjesnac Dardaneli.

Zapovjednici snaga Antante su, međutim, uvidjeli da topovska paljba s udaljenosti od 10-ak kilometara ne nanosi veliku štetu turskim utvrdama. Stoga su odlučili očistiti minska polja uz obalu da bi brodovi prišli bliže.

Saveznici su se na kraju odlučili desantom osvojiti Galipoljski poluotok i Carigrad (danas Istanbul), te tako ponovno otvoriti rutu za opskrbu Rusije. Međutim, desant snaga Antante nije uspio i to je jedina velika bitka Prvog svjetskog rata u kojoj je Osmansko Carstvo pobijedilo. Galipoljska bitka je postala jedna od najkrvavijih u tom ratu, s 355.000 žrtava na objema stranama.

Otvaranje podvodnog parka

Galipoljski povijesni podvodni park (Historical Underwater Park) kod sela Seddulbahira blizu Canakkalea, na južnoj azijskoj strani Dardanela, tursko je Ministarstvo kulture i turizma odlučilo otvoriti za sve ronioce od 2. listopada 2021. godine.

U njemu leži najmanje 14 olupina brodova stradalih 1915., tijekom pohoda na poluotok, a sve donedavno se do njh moglo roniti samo uz posjedovanje posebnih dozvola.

Neki se ratni brodovi iz Prvog svjetskog rata nalaze na dubini od samo 7,6 metara, dok su drugi raspršeni na većim dubinama, od 18 do 30 m, s time da britanski HMS Triumph leži na 70 m.

Povijesni podvodni muzej trebao je biti dostupan turistima roniocima još ovog ljeta, ali se njegovo otvaranje javnosti oduljilo zbog pandemije. Neki smatraju kako je odluka turske vlade potencijalno i opasna budući da se u tom akvatoriju nalazi još neeksplodiranih podvodnih mina i torpeda.

Kao putovanje u vremeplovu

No, predstavnik turskog Ministarstva kulture i turizma Yusuf Kartal je za New York Times kazao da nema velike opasnosti budući da su eksplozivne naprave stare i većini njih treba ozbiljan trzaj kako bi se aktivirale.

Prvi čovjek muzeja Canakkale Historical Site Ismail Kasdemir kazao je kako ronjenje do olupina izgleda kao putovanje u vremeplovu u svijet star 106 godina. Osim toga, brojni su ronioci zainteresirani vidjeti izbliza stare brodove, tvrdi on.

U podvodnome muzeju koji će, prema turskim očekivanjima, postati meka ronilaca iz cijelog svijeta, među ostalima, nalaze se ostaci britanskih brodova HMS Majestic, Irresistible i Ocean, francuskog Bouveta i nekoliko turskih minopolagača.

UZALUDNA ŽRTVA


Usput rečeno, tursku vojsku je predvodio Kemal Ataturk, kasniji utemeljitelj turske republike i njezin prvi predsjednik, koji je svoj vojni ugled stekao upravo na bojnom polju kod Galipolja. Snage Antante su dobrim dijelom činile trupe Britanskog Carstva izvan Engleske (Irska, Australija i Novi Zeland), pa Galipolje u Australiji i Novom Zelandu danas predstavlja simbol velikog, nepotrebnog i uzaludnog stradavanja.
