Nedugo nakon što smo se riješili jednog kašlja, pojavio se drugi. I dok je završetak pandemije covida službeno proglašen prošle godine, slučajevi hripavca posljednjih su mjeseci širom Europe u porastu, piše Politico te Hrvatsku navodi kao trenutačno europsko žarište bolesti.

Infekcija iz prošlih vremena, sastavni dio romana Charlesa Dickensa, posljednja je bolest iz viktorijanskog doba koja se vratila na Zapad nakon porasta broja slučajeva ospica, sifilisa, gihta, gube i malarije.

U Češkoj, odakle stižu izvješća o nestašici cjepiva protiv hripavca, broj slučajeva najveći je u posljednjih 60 godina, podaci su Europskog centra za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (ECDC). 

Do naglog je porasta posljednjih mjeseci došlo i u Danskoj, Belgiji, Španjolskoj te u Velikoj Britaniji.

"Ove godine infekcije su dramatično porasle i mogle bi premašiti bilo koji godišnji ukupan broj u zadnjih više od 30 godina", rekao je Paul Hunter, liječnik i profesor na Sveučilištu East Anglia.

Prošle su godine u Engleskoj zabilježena ukupno 853 slučaja, a samo u veljači ove godine evidentirano ih je 913. 

Trenutačno je europsko žarište Hrvatska, koja je u posljednjih 15 mjeseci prijavila 6381 slučaj.

Dio razloga za širenje hripavca Europom pad je stope procijepljenosti.

U većini europskih zemalja bebe dobivaju prve dvije doze kombiniranog cjepiva protiv hripavca, difterije i tetanusa između dva mjeseca starosti i godine dana, drugu dozu do svoje druge godine i posljednju između treće i sedme godine života. 

Da bi se novorođenčad zaštitila od bolesti, trudnicama se nudi i cjepivo protiv hripavca. U Engleskoj je, kako piše British Medical Journal, prihvaćanje cjepiva među ovom skupinom palo s više od 70 posto u rujnu 2017. na 58 posto u rujnu 2023.

Ta je činjenica posebno zabrinjavajuća s obzirom na to da je hripavac najriskantniji za dojenčad.

Bolest je za odrasle uglavnom samo neugodna, no u tako male djece može izazvati niz ozbiljnih komplikacija, a u nekim slučajevima može rezultirati i smrću dojenčadi.

Većinu aktualnih bolesnika čine tinejdžeri u dobi od 15 do 19 godina, no ECDC izvješćuje da se "gotovo svi ovogodišnji smrtni slučajevi" odnose na bebe mlađe od tri mjeseca.

Proteklih tjedana u Nizozemskoj su evidentirane četiri smrti od posljedica hripavca,  a to je više nego dvostruko više od uobičajene godišnje stope.

Covid mamurluk

Europska agencija za bolesti ukazuje na to da bi za porast broja slučajeva hripavca mogao biti odgovoran covid.

"Trenutačno povećanje moglo bi biti povezano s nižom cirkulacijom virusa hripavca u vrijeme pandemije covida u kombinaciji s neoptimalnim cijepljenjem protiv hripavca određenih dobnih skupina", stoji u izvješću od ožujka.

Cijepljenje populacije ključno je za zaustavljanje epidemije, no to je, čini se, lakše reći nego realizirati.

Pet regionalnih zdravstvenih službi u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu izvijestilo je da je pandemija koronavirusa nepovoljno utjecala na stope cijepljenja protiv ostalih zaraznih bolesti. 

"Tijekom pandemije koronavirusa bilo je mnoštvo dezinformacija lobija protiv cijepljenja, zbog čega se pojavila i bojazan da će takve dezinformacije rezultirati oklijevanjem čak i u slučajevima rutinske imunizacije", kazao je Michael Head, viši znanstveni suradnik na odjelu za zdravlje Sveučilišta Southampton. 

Head je ukazao i na epidemiju ospica u Europi koja se također uvelike pripisuje smanjenoj procijepljenosti.

Nedugo nakon što smo se riješili jednog kašlja, pojavio se drugi. I dok je završetak pandemije covida službeno proglašen prošle godine, slučajevi hripavca posljednjih su mjeseci širom Europe u porastu, piše Politico te Hrvatsku navodi kao trenutačno europsko žarište bolesti.

Infekcija iz prošlih vremena, sastavni dio romana Charlesa Dickensa, posljednja je bolest iz viktorijanskog doba koja se vratila na Zapad nakon porasta broja slučajeva ospica, sifilisa, gihta, gube i malarije.

U Češkoj, odakle stižu izvješća o nestašici cjepiva protiv hripavca, broj slučajeva najveći je u posljednjih 60 godina, podaci su Europskog centra za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (ECDC). 

Do naglog je porasta posljednjih mjeseci došlo i u Danskoj, Belgiji, Španjolskoj te u Velikoj Britaniji.

"Ove godine infekcije su dramatično porasle i mogle bi premašiti bilo koji godišnji ukupan broj u zadnjih više od 30 godina", rekao je Paul Hunter, liječnik i profesor na Sveučilištu East Anglia.

Prošle su godine u Engleskoj zabilježena ukupno 853 slučaja, a samo u veljači ove godine evidentirano ih je 913. 

Trenutačno je europsko žarište Hrvatska, koja je u posljednjih 15 mjeseci prijavila 6381 slučaj.

Dio razloga za širenje hripavca Europom pad je stope procijepljenosti.

U većini europskih zemalja bebe dobivaju prve dvije doze kombiniranog cjepiva protiv hripavca, difterije i tetanusa između dva mjeseca starosti i godine dana, drugu dozu do svoje druge godine i posljednju između treće i sedme godine života. 

Da bi se novorođenčad zaštitila od bolesti, trudnicama se nudi i cjepivo protiv hripavca. U Engleskoj je, kako piše British Medical Journal, prihvaćanje cjepiva među ovom skupinom palo s više od 70 posto u rujnu 2017. na 58 posto u rujnu 2023.

Ta je činjenica posebno zabrinjavajuća s obzirom na to da je hripavac najriskantniji za dojenčad.

Bolest je za odrasle uglavnom samo neugodna, no u tako male djece može izazvati niz ozbiljnih komplikacija, a u nekim slučajevima može rezultirati i smrću dojenčadi.

Većinu aktualnih bolesnika čine tinejdžeri u dobi od 15 do 19 godina, no ECDC izvješćuje da se "gotovo svi ovogodišnji smrtni slučajevi" odnose na bebe mlađe od tri mjeseca.

Proteklih tjedana u Nizozemskoj su evidentirane četiri smrti od posljedica hripavca,  a to je više nego dvostruko više od uobičajene godišnje stope.

Covid mamurluk

Europska agencija za bolesti ukazuje na to da bi za porast broja slučajeva hripavca mogao biti odgovoran covid.

"Trenutačno povećanje moglo bi biti povezano s nižom cirkulacijom virusa hripavca u vrijeme pandemije covida u kombinaciji s neoptimalnim cijepljenjem protiv hripavca određenih dobnih skupina", stoji u izvješću od ožujka.

Cijepljenje populacije ključno je za zaustavljanje epidemije, no to je, čini se, lakše reći nego realizirati.

Pet regionalnih zdravstvenih službi u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu izvijestilo je da je pandemija koronavirusa nepovoljno utjecala na stope cijepljenja protiv ostalih zaraznih bolesti. 

"Tijekom pandemije koronavirusa bilo je mnoštvo dezinformacija lobija protiv cijepljenja, zbog čega se pojavila i bojazan da će takve dezinformacije rezultirati oklijevanjem čak i u slučajevima rutinske imunizacije", kazao je Michael Head, viši znanstveni suradnik na odjelu za zdravlje Sveučilišta Southampton. 

Head je ukazao i na epidemiju ospica u Europi koja se također uvelike pripisuje smanjenoj procijepljenosti.

Nedugo nakon što smo se riješili jednog kašlja, pojavio se drugi. I dok je završetak pandemije covida službeno proglašen prošle godine, slučajevi hripavca posljednjih su mjeseci širom Europe u porastu, piše Politico te Hrvatsku navodi kao trenutačno europsko žarište bolesti.

Infekcija iz prošlih vremena, sastavni dio romana Charlesa Dickensa, posljednja je bolest iz viktorijanskog doba koja se vratila na Zapad nakon porasta broja slučajeva ospica, sifilisa, gihta, gube i malarije.
