Proteklog vikenda krenula je treća etapa regate The Ocean Race, bivše Volvo Ocean Race, i to od Cape Towna do Itajaí u Brazilu, dionica duga čak 12,750 nautičke milje.

Najizazovnija je to ruta koju treba prijeći pet posada u klasi Imoca 60, počevši od geografskih širina na kojima će se utrkivati, oko 40 i 50 stupnjeva južno, unatoč tome što je postavljena granica preko koje jedrilice neće moći ići kako bi se izbjegao rizik od santi leda.

Južni ocean – poznat i kao Antarktički ocean najdivlji je i najudaljeniji otvoreni ocean na svijetu. Počinje na geografskoj širini 60° južno i okružuje najjužniji kontinent Zemlje, ledenu kopnenu masu Antarktika.

Osvajanje ovih gotovo mitskih, najjužnijih voda planeta odavno je znak časti za ponajbolje svjetske jedriličare.

Na putu od Cape Towna do Itajaía posade će proći tri velika svjetska rta: Rt dobre nade blizu vrha Afrike; Cape Leeuwin, najjugozapadnija točka Australije i zloglasni rt Horn na otoku Hornos – najjužnijem rtu na arhipelagu Tierra del Fuego u južnom Čileu. Očekuje se da će ruta trajati oko 34 dana, više nego ijedna druga etapa ove tradicionalne regate oko svijeta.

Zanimljivo je da će prijeći preko Točke Nemo, točke u Tihom oceanu koja je najudaljenija od kopna. U tom trenutku posadama će biti najbliža ljudska bića biti astronauti na Međunarodnoj svemirskoj stanici, koji kruže oko svijeta 400 kilometara iznad njih.

Point Nemo je zamišljena točka koja se nalazi na koordinatama 48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W. Zanimljiva je činjenica da je Point Nemo 1992. godine otkrio hrvatsko-kanadski inženjer Hrvoje Lukatela. Lukatela je ovoj točki dao ime Nemo po uzoru na kapetana Nema, lika iz romana Julesa Vernea 20 000 milja pod morem i Tajanstveni otok.

Iako tek posada sudjeluje u ovoj izazovnoj regati, oni čitavo vrijeme prikupljaju podatke koje Ocean race ustupa istraživačima oceana, od razine kisika, temperature vode i razine onečišćenja mikroplastikom, vjetrova, valova i sličnog.

Proteklog vikenda krenula je treća etapa regate The Ocean Race, bivše Volvo Ocean Race, i to od Cape Towna do Itajaí u Brazilu, dionica duga čak 12,750 nautičke milje.

Najizazovnija je to ruta koju treba prijeći pet posada u klasi Imoca 60, počevši od geografskih širina na kojima će se utrkivati, oko 40 i 50 stupnjeva južno, unatoč tome što je postavljena granica preko koje jedrilice neće moći ići kako bi se izbjegao rizik od santi leda.

Južni ocean – poznat i kao Antarktički ocean najdivlji je i najudaljeniji otvoreni ocean na svijetu. Počinje na geografskoj širini 60° južno i okružuje najjužniji kontinent Zemlje, ledenu kopnenu masu Antarktika.

Osvajanje ovih gotovo mitskih, najjužnijih voda planeta odavno je znak časti za ponajbolje svjetske jedriličare.

Na putu od Cape Towna do Itajaía posade će proći tri velika svjetska rta: Rt dobre nade blizu vrha Afrike; Cape Leeuwin, najjugozapadnija točka Australije i zloglasni rt Horn na otoku Hornos – najjužnijem rtu na arhipelagu Tierra del Fuego u južnom Čileu. Očekuje se da će ruta trajati oko 34 dana, više nego ijedna druga etapa ove tradicionalne regate oko svijeta.

Zanimljivo je da će prijeći preko Točke Nemo, točke u Tihom oceanu koja je najudaljenija od kopna. U tom trenutku posadama će biti najbliža ljudska bića biti astronauti na Međunarodnoj svemirskoj stanici, koji kruže oko svijeta 400 kilometara iznad njih.

Point Nemo je zamišljena točka koja se nalazi na koordinatama 48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W. Zanimljiva je činjenica da je Point Nemo 1992. godine otkrio hrvatsko-kanadski inženjer Hrvoje Lukatela. Lukatela je ovoj točki dao ime Nemo po uzoru na kapetana Nema, lika iz romana Julesa Vernea 20 000 milja pod morem i Tajanstveni otok.

Iako tek posada sudjeluje u ovoj izazovnoj regati, oni čitavo vrijeme prikupljaju podatke koje Ocean race ustupa istraživačima oceana, od razine kisika, temperature vode i razine onečišćenja mikroplastikom, vjetrova, valova i sličnog.

The Ocean RaceKrenula najizazovnija etapa regate oko svijeta, jedri se 12750 nautičkih milja preko Južnog oceana

Proteklog vikenda krenula je treća etapa regate The Ocean Race, bivše Volvo Ocean Race, i to od Cape Towna do Itajaí u Brazilu, dionica duga čak 12,750 nautičke milje.

Najizazovnija je to ruta koju treba prijeći pet posada u klasi Imoca 60, počevši od geografskih širina na kojima će se utrkivati, oko 40 i 50 stupnjeva južno, unatoč tome što je postavljena granica preko koje jedrilice neće moći ići kako bi se izbjegao rizik od santi leda.

Južni ocean – poznat i kao Antarktički ocean najdivlji je i najudaljeniji otvoreni ocean na svijetu. Počinje na geografskoj širini 60° južno i okružuje najjužniji kontinent Zemlje, ledenu kopnenu masu Antarktika.

Osvajanje ovih gotovo mitskih, najjužnijih voda planeta odavno je znak časti za ponajbolje svjetske jedriličare.

Na putu od Cape Towna do Itajaía posade će proći tri velika svjetska rta: Rt dobre nade blizu vrha Afrike; Cape Leeuwin, najjugozapadnija točka Australije i zloglasni rt Horn na otoku Hornos – najjužnijem rtu na arhipelagu Tierra del Fuego u južnom Čileu. Očekuje se da će ruta trajati oko 34 dana, više nego ijedna druga etapa ove tradicionalne regate oko svijeta.

Zanimljivo je da će prijeći preko Točke Nemo, točke u Tihom oceanu koja je najudaljenija od kopna. U tom trenutku posadama će biti najbliža ljudska bića biti astronauti na Međunarodnoj svemirskoj stanici, koji kruže oko svijeta 400 kilometara iznad njih.

Point Nemo je zamišljena točka koja se nalazi na koordinatama 48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W. Zanimljiva je činjenica da je Point Nemo 1992. godine otkrio hrvatsko-kanadski inženjer Hrvoje Lukatela. Lukatela je ovoj točki dao ime Nemo po uzoru na kapetana Nema, lika iz romana Julesa Vernea 20 000 milja pod morem i Tajanstveni otok.

Iako tek posada sudjeluje u ovoj izazovnoj regati, oni čitavo vrijeme prikupljaju podatke koje Ocean race ustupa istraživačima oceana, od razine kisika, temperature vode i razine onečišćenja mikroplastikom, vjetrova, valova i sličnog.
