Sedamdesetak metara duge brodove blizance Nemi rimski imperator Kaligula dao je napraviti za uživanje po istoimenom jezeru južno od Rima.

Na njima su se nalazile terme, luksuzne odaje popločane mramorom, galerije ukrašene mozaicima…

Na brodovima koje je pogonio ogroman broj vesala duljine 12 metara su bila i zasađena stabla.

Iako su stanovnici okolnih sela i ribari često znali i u ranijim stoljećima iz jezera izvaditi neke ukrase i razne druge dijelove brodova, tek se u XX. stoljeću pristupilo njihovu izvlačenju na svjetlo dana.

Benito Mussolini je1927. naredio isušivanje jezera kako bi se došlo do brodova.

Dvije godine kasnije, kada je razina jezera spuštena za pet metara, na površini se pojavio prvi brod, a kada je razina vode spuštena za 20 metara, došlo se i do drugog broda.

Da bi ih se zaštitilo od vanjskih utjecaja, 1936. je sagrađen muzej iznad olupina Kaligulinih plovećih palača.

Muzej i brodovi u njemu su uništeni 31. svibnja 1944.

Američka avijacija je te večeri bombardirala njemačke artiljerijske položaje nedaleko od muzeja.

Nijemci su se povukli sa svojih položaja, a dva sata nakon njihova povlačenja, pojavio se dim iz muzejske zgrade.

Amerikanci su optuživali njemačke snage da su pri svom povlačenju namjerno zapalili muzej, dok su Nijemci u svojim izvještajima ostali ustrajni pri tome da su muzej uništile američke bombe.

Sedamdesetak metara duge brodove blizance Nemi rimski imperator Kaligula dao je napraviti za uživanje po istoimenom jezeru južno od Rima.

Na njima su se nalazile terme, luksuzne odaje popločane mramorom, galerije ukrašene mozaicima…

Na brodovima koje je pogonio ogroman broj vesala duljine 12 metara su bila i zasađena stabla.

Iako su stanovnici okolnih sela i ribari često znali i u ranijim stoljećima iz jezera izvaditi neke ukrase i razne druge dijelove brodova, tek se u XX. stoljeću pristupilo njihovu izvlačenju na svjetlo dana.

Benito Mussolini je1927. naredio isušivanje jezera kako bi se došlo do brodova.

Dvije godine kasnije, kada je razina jezera spuštena za pet metara, na površini se pojavio prvi brod, a kada je razina vode spuštena za 20 metara, došlo se i do drugog broda.

Da bi ih se zaštitilo od vanjskih utjecaja, 1936. je sagrađen muzej iznad olupina Kaligulinih plovećih palača.

Muzej i brodovi u njemu su uništeni 31. svibnja 1944.

Američka avijacija je te večeri bombardirala njemačke artiljerijske položaje nedaleko od muzeja.

Nijemci su se povukli sa svojih položaja, a dva sata nakon njihova povlačenja, pojavio se dim iz muzejske zgrade.

Amerikanci su optuživali njemačke snage da su pri svom povlačenju namjerno zapalili muzej, dok su Nijemci u svojim izvještajima ostali ustrajni pri tome da su muzej uništile američke bombe.

MRAMOR I MOZAICIKaliguline ploveće palače izvukao je Mussolini, a uništile savezničke bombe

Sedamdesetak metara duge brodove blizance Nemi rimski imperator Kaligula dao je napraviti za uživanje po istoimenom jezeru južno od Rima.

Na njima su se nalazile terme, luksuzne odaje popločane mramorom, galerije ukrašene mozaicima…

Na brodovima koje je pogonio ogroman broj vesala duljine 12 metara su bila i zasađena stabla.

Iako su stanovnici okolnih sela i ribari često znali i u ranijim stoljećima iz jezera izvaditi neke ukrase i razne druge dijelove brodova, tek se u XX. stoljeću pristupilo njihovu izvlačenju na svjetlo dana.

Benito Mussolini je1927. naredio isušivanje jezera kako bi se došlo do brodova.

Dvije godine kasnije, kada je razina jezera spuštena za pet metara, na površini se pojavio prvi brod, a kada je razina vode spuštena za 20 metara, došlo se i do drugog broda.

Da bi ih se zaštitilo od vanjskih utjecaja, 1936. je sagrađen muzej iznad olupina Kaligulinih plovećih palača.

Muzej i brodovi u njemu su uništeni 31. svibnja 1944.

Američka avijacija je te večeri bombardirala njemačke artiljerijske položaje nedaleko od muzeja.

Nijemci su se povukli sa svojih položaja, a dva sata nakon njihova povlačenja, pojavio se dim iz muzejske zgrade.

Amerikanci su optuživali njemačke snage da su pri svom povlačenju namjerno zapalili muzej, dok su Nijemci u svojim izvještajima ostali ustrajni pri tome da su muzej uništile američke bombe.
