Danima smo gledali kako se diljem Jadrana nasukavaju ​brodice​, te postoji mnoštvo priča u kojima se te velike oseke povezuju s potresima, pa se pitam ima li u tome istine i što će se dogoditi s nama ako more stvarno poraste kao što se najavljuje?

Nisam baš stručnjak za potrese, odnosno imam samo opće znanje iz seizmologije, ali znajući neke osnovne karakteristike potresa te procese funkcioniranja morskog okoliša, ne vidim nikakvu poveznicu između potresa i trenutačnih velikih oseka diljem Jadrana. Da ispravno zaključujem, potvrdili su upravo i neki seizmolozi, pa se u traženju odgovora na ovo pitanje možemo fokusirati na uobičajene razloge, a to su plima i oseka (morske mijene).

Morske mijene su zapravo jedan od najpouzdanijih procesa na planetu. Kao što smo sigurni da će sunce ujutro izići na istoku, tako smo sigurni i da će razina mora duž naših obala opadati i rasti. Plima se definira kao vrijeme rasta razine mora, dok oseka predstavlja vrijeme opadanja razine mora. Sila koja djeluje na morske mijene je uzrokovana gravitacijskim privlačenjem vodenih masa od strane Sunca i Mjeseca, te centrifugalnom silom koja se javlja uslijed revolucije Zemlje.

Uobičajena oscilacija

Također, dodatni efekt na razinu mora mogu prouzročiti različiti vremenski uvjeti, tako jak vjetar na moru može uzrokovati smanjenje razine mora uz obalu, a ono što se nama trenutno događa je uzrokovano dugotrajnim visokim atmosferskim tlakom iznad Jadrana, kao i većeg dijela Europe, koji tlači more, pa zato imamo pojačani efekt oseke. Čim se vrijeme promijeni, rekli bismo pokvari jer nakon sunca uvijek dođe kiša, niski tlak će razlike u razini mora smanjiti na uobičajenu razinu.

Iako razlika u razini mora između plime i oseke u svijetu može iznositi i desetak metara, u Jadranu nema velike visinske razlike jer je zatvoreno more. Najveća je razlika visine, oko metra, u sjevernom Jadranu, posebice u Tršćanskom zaljevu, a onda ta razlika opada putem prema jugu gdje je tek oko tridesetak centimetara.

Također, potpuno je jasno da će veća oseka biti izraženija (vidljivija) u plićem području gdje ionako niska razina mora biva dodatno smanjena uslijed oseke, što često dovodi do, primjerice, ostajanja plovila na suhom. Osobno se često susrećem s takvom pojavom jer imam plovilo u Stobreču pokraj Splita, gdje većina vlasnika plovila odavno koristi aplikacije koje pokazuju razine mora, jer iz te lučice zbog oseke ne možete isplovljavati ili uplovljavati uvijek kada vam se baš prohtije.

Što se tiče pitanja u vezi porasta razine mora u Jadranu, uslijed promjena na globalnoj razini, jasno je iz konfiguracije naše obale da bi se time umnogome povećala opasnost od poplavljivanja obalnih područja na kopnu i otocima. Cjelokupna naša obalna infrastruktura je napravljena sukladno trenutno važećim i normalnim promjenama morskih mijena. U slučaju podizanja normalne razine mora, nažalost, za vrijeme plime i/ili jakog vjetra vjerojatno bi došlo do poplavljivanja obalnih gradova i naselja, posebice u sjevernom Jadranu, ali u zavisnosti od razine poremećaja i u drugim jadranskim područjima.

Nizozemski primjer

U tome slučaju, takve pojave bi zapravo prestale biti iznimno rijetke i događale bi se na godišnjoj razini. Nemojmo zaboraviti da tada ne bi samo naseljena područja imala problem, već i ostala plića područja, posebice ušća rijeka. Primjerice, u dolini rijeke Neretve velik dio površina bi postao neupotrebljiv za poljoprivrednu namjenu uslijed prodiranja mora i zaslanjivanja tla.

Da ne bude sve baš crno, moram reći da rješenje postoji, jer su mnoge zemlje već odavno u takvoj situaciji. Naime, u Nizozemskoj je četvrtina površine te zemlje niža od morske razine, a najniža točka je gotovo sedam metara ispod srednje razine mora. Pojas dina i obrambenih nasipa štiti to nisko područje od provale mora. Prema tome, izgradnjom zaštitnih nasipa ili drugim načinima obrane od visokih razina mora, može se riješiti i taj budući problem, ali je i jasno da je to poprilično skupo i sporo rješenje, posebice s obzirom na šest tisuća kilometara dužine naše obale. Stoga je jeftinije rješenje, ne samo za nas već i globalno, shvatiti razloge koji posljedično mogu dovesti do povećanja razine mora, i sukladno tome se ponašati, a ne ostaviti probleme budućim generacijama, ako već i nas to ne zahvati.

Danima smo gledali kako se diljem Jadrana nasukavaju ​brodice​, te postoji mnoštvo priča u kojima se te velike oseke povezuju s potresima, pa se pitam ima li u tome istine i što će se dogoditi s nama ako more stvarno poraste kao što se najavljuje?

Nisam baš stručnjak za potrese, odnosno imam samo opće znanje iz seizmologije, ali znajući neke osnovne karakteristike potresa te procese funkcioniranja morskog okoliša, ne vidim nikakvu poveznicu između potresa i trenutačnih velikih oseka diljem Jadrana. Da ispravno zaključujem, potvrdili su upravo i neki seizmolozi, pa se u traženju odgovora na ovo pitanje možemo fokusirati na uobičajene razloge, a to su plima i oseka (morske mijene).

Morske mijene su zapravo jedan od najpouzdanijih procesa na planetu. Kao što smo sigurni da će sunce ujutro izići na istoku, tako smo sigurni i da će razina mora duž naših obala opadati i rasti. Plima se definira kao vrijeme rasta razine mora, dok oseka predstavlja vrijeme opadanja razine mora. Sila koja djeluje na morske mijene je uzrokovana gravitacijskim privlačenjem vodenih masa od strane Sunca i Mjeseca, te centrifugalnom silom koja se javlja uslijed revolucije Zemlje.

Uobičajena oscilacija

Također, dodatni efekt na razinu mora mogu prouzročiti različiti vremenski uvjeti, tako jak vjetar na moru može uzrokovati smanjenje razine mora uz obalu, a ono što se nama trenutno događa je uzrokovano dugotrajnim visokim atmosferskim tlakom iznad Jadrana, kao i većeg dijela Europe, koji tlači more, pa zato imamo pojačani efekt oseke. Čim se vrijeme promijeni, rekli bismo pokvari jer nakon sunca uvijek dođe kiša, niski tlak će razlike u razini mora smanjiti na uobičajenu razinu.

Iako razlika u razini mora između plime i oseke u svijetu može iznositi i desetak metara, u Jadranu nema velike visinske razlike jer je zatvoreno more. Najveća je razlika visine, oko metra, u sjevernom Jadranu, posebice u Tršćanskom zaljevu, a onda ta razlika opada putem prema jugu gdje je tek oko tridesetak centimetara.

Također, potpuno je jasno da će veća oseka biti izraženija (vidljivija) u plićem području gdje ionako niska razina mora biva dodatno smanjena uslijed oseke, što često dovodi do, primjerice, ostajanja plovila na suhom. Osobno se često susrećem s takvom pojavom jer imam plovilo u Stobreču pokraj Splita, gdje većina vlasnika plovila odavno koristi aplikacije koje pokazuju razine mora, jer iz te lučice zbog oseke ne možete isplovljavati ili uplovljavati uvijek kada vam se baš prohtije.

Što se tiče pitanja u vezi porasta razine mora u Jadranu, uslijed promjena na globalnoj razini, jasno je iz konfiguracije naše obale da bi se time umnogome povećala opasnost od poplavljivanja obalnih područja na kopnu i otocima. Cjelokupna naša obalna infrastruktura je napravljena sukladno trenutno važećim i normalnim promjenama morskih mijena. U slučaju podizanja normalne razine mora, nažalost, za vrijeme plime i/ili jakog vjetra vjerojatno bi došlo do poplavljivanja obalnih gradova i naselja, posebice u sjevernom Jadranu, ali u zavisnosti od razine poremećaja i u drugim jadranskim područjima.

Nizozemski primjer

U tome slučaju, takve pojave bi zapravo prestale biti iznimno rijetke i događale bi se na godišnjoj razini. Nemojmo zaboraviti da tada ne bi samo naseljena područja imala problem, već i ostala plića područja, posebice ušća rijeka. Primjerice, u dolini rijeke Neretve velik dio površina bi postao neupotrebljiv za poljoprivrednu namjenu uslijed prodiranja mora i zaslanjivanja tla.

Da ne bude sve baš crno, moram reći da rješenje postoji, jer su mnoge zemlje već odavno u takvoj situaciji. Naime, u Nizozemskoj je četvrtina površine te zemlje niža od morske razine, a najniža točka je gotovo sedam metara ispod srednje razine mora. Pojas dina i obrambenih nasipa štiti to nisko područje od provale mora. Prema tome, izgradnjom zaštitnih nasipa ili drugim načinima obrane od visokih razina mora, može se riješiti i taj budući problem, ali je i jasno da je to poprilično skupo i sporo rješenje, posebice s obzirom na šest tisuća kilometara dužine naše obale. Stoga je jeftinije rješenje, ne samo za nas već i globalno, shvatiti razloge koji posljedično mogu dovesti do povećanja razine mora, i sukladno tome se ponašati, a ne ostaviti probleme budućim generacijama, ako već i nas to ne zahvati.
